Muslim view on Halloween🧕

Hello guys! I’m back😊 Today we discuss about the Muslim view on Halloween. Having views and acting on them is a totally different thing and many Muslims around the world celebrate Halloween, even I do.💕

1. Halloween is actually disliked as it is not permissible to change your appearance because Allah made us all beautiful and we have no need to change our appearances whether it is by plastic surgery or just makeup. I mean, using makeup to look neat is ok, but using it to look like a ghost is not OK! Isn’t it beautiful that Islam asks you to accept yourself the way you are, even if you’re fat or as thin as a match stick, Islam still promotes self love.

2. Islam also tells us to pray to have protection from evil and bad. Offering the dead any food or gift wouldn’t help. Only the God can help. Only Allah can guide and protect us so, it is against Islam to celebrate Halloween.

3. Sharing food and love with others is promoted by Islam and we all should definitely do this, but do you think that that it’s ok to only share sweets and food on one day? Where is our humanity-if not religion- on all other days? Don’t you think we should share not only our food, but also our belongings with others when they are in need?

4. Tricking someone is also considered bad in Islam as Islam and the life of the Prophet(P.B.U.H) always tells us to be truthful and not to play jokes on others. Jokes might be for fun, but I actually consider them bad as there are so many more ways to have fun and laugh, just saying.💕

5. Islam doesn’t tells you not to have fun, infact, Muslims have their own festivals like Eid-ul-Azha and Eid-ul-Fitr based upon their religious beliefs. We also get Eidi (money) from elders so it’s a lot of fun.

At last, I’ll end it with an authentic narration by the Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H), “Whoever immitates a people is from them.” This just shows that a person who tries copying someone will eventually succeeds in being the person himself. If we imitate a good person or thing,we’ll be good and if we imitate a bad person or thing, we’ll be bad. I’ll end it by saying, do what you feel right and what brings you closer to God and gives you peace and a feeling of contentment. Allah hafiz.❤️

  1. Just as another point of view: hardly anyone will have been following Halloween customs because of any belief in them, Therefore those Muslims that approach them from a point of view of fun are at one with the vast majority who know that these, like most religions or customs, are based on sheer myth. Any god who would adopt such petty attitudes towards play or makeup would not even be worthy of respect, much less worship?

    1. I don’t think so. Islam doesn’t say directly that halloween is bad, but when taken into consideration, the way that halloween is celebrated by drinking and dancing is so not allowed in Islam. We can always have fun. Even the Holy Prophet(PBUH) had two races with his second wife for fun.

  2. Hello Manahil, you have some information about Halloween wrong. Here is a link to the history channel. There was no celebrating the “lord of the dead and calling for evil spirits. In fact the poor in many areas when to homes and offered to pray for dead ancestors for food. The celtic people thought the dead came out as ghosts and spirits on that night and so they were afraid of them, and started traditions to protect themselves, not worship the lord of the dead. Here is the link. Hugs

      1. It is not your fault really. Many religions included the fundamentalist christians here in the US equate Halloween with evil and so they taint the information with stuff that makes it look sinful or from the devil. Silly really. Nowadays it doesn’t have any of the old time stuff to it. I am more aware as I use to call myself pagan ( pagan simply meant many gods, so if you worshiped more than one god you were a pagan, which was common in the greek and roman societies. ) Now that I think on it the old testament included more than one god, that gave rise to the 1st commandment thou shall have no other gods before me. I have friends who are wiccan and celebrate samhain and it is to celebrate / honor nature and to honor their family and friends who have died. Got to go for a bit, Hugs

          1. I do understand. I often have to look stuff up. Often what comes up first are not information sites but personal opinions about an issue. Or it is someone trying to push a bias. Like you I try to figure out if the source is reputable and correct. It is hard sometimes and I have gotten some bad information some times. Sites that list a thing as evil will of course give you only information that makes it look evil, and at the same time sites that are supportive of that thing sometimes could be leaving information out. I like education sites, like schools and colleges. Wikipedia is OK but you have to check to make sure they are not being edited with unsourced stuff. Besides we both learn things when we talk them out. More fun than just reading a web page also. Have a good night and great day. Hugs

  3. Interesting post! This same debate goes through christian communities too, same excuses etc.
As per makeup…..agreed, God created each of us, perfectly and beautifully in his design and sight, however, people are mean and I wake up looking crazy! For me, makeup is a public service. Lol
(Just kidding. I actually dont wear much, mostly because I’m lazy like that. Haha)
